Fernando Munera is a suspected suspect who has reportedly been charged with stabbing his ex-New York City girlfriend Alayna Hardy inside her Harlem apartment on Wednesday night, just 30 minutes after she called the police to report that he had violated a restraining order.

Hardy was born in Arizona but lived in New York City for several years. It is unclear how long she and Munera had been together.

On February 13, Munera was charged with unlawful imprisonment, harassment, and property damage stemming from a domestic incident involving Hardy. Prosecutors said during their arraignment that Munera restrained Hardy, took the phone from him and prevented him from leaving a bedroom.
After he managed to escape, Munera allegedly vandalized her apartment.

A judge issued a temporary protective order against Munera, prohibiting her from contacting Hardy, even while he was still living in the same building as his ex-girlfriend. Munera was due to appear before a judge in connection with the February case Thursday morning, just hours before Hardy’s murder.
