Encounter with Cuomo happened in May 2017
Sherry’s alleged encounter occurred in May 2017, while Cuomo was touring Greece, New York, which had recently been devastated by floods. Vill, whose home was among those damaged, invited Cuomo to her home and expressed his dismay at her condition.
“That’s when the governor looked at me, walked over to me, took my hand and pulled me to him,” Vill said. He “he leaned over me and kissed me on the cheek. He was holding my puppy in my arms and I thought he was going to pet my dog. But instead he went to get between the dog and mine and he kissed me on the other cheek in what I felt was a highly sexual way. ”
Cuomo tried to explain inappropriate contact as a cultural norm. “He said, ‘That’s what Italians do, kiss both cheeks,'” Vill recalled.
“I was shocked and didn’t understand what had just happened,” Vill said. “But I knew I felt embarrassed and weird about his kiss. I am Italian, and in my family, family members kiss. Strangers don’t kiss, especially when meeting someone for the first time. ”
As they left, Cuomo “stopped, turned to me and said, ‘You’re beautiful,'” according to Vill. “That made me feel even more uncomfortable,” Vill said. “I felt like he was approaching me in my own home.”
Cuomo allegedly grabbed Vill’s face again and kissed her on the cheek outside the house, in front of Vill’s son, who was recording the governor’s visit and captured a picture of the contact, shown in the virtual briefing.
“I felt like I was being mistreated, especially since he was holding my face and kissing me on the cheek again,” Vill said. “The way he looked at me and his body language made me very uncomfortable. I felt like I was acting very flirty and inappropriate, especially in front of my family and neighbors. ”
Vill noted that Cuomo is about 6 feet tall, while she is only 5 feet tall. “He towered over me,” she said. “There was nothing he could do.”
“I know the difference between an innocent gesture and a sexual one,” he continued. “I have never felt more uncomfortable than the day Governor Cuomo came to my house. His actions were too sexual, too inappropriate and disrespectful to me and my family. ”

Days after the interaction, a member of the governor’s staff left Vill a voicemail asking if he would like to attend an upcoming event with the governor, Vill said. “In particular, [the staff member] didn’t say ‘my husband and I’ or ‘my family and I,'” Vill said. “Just specifically me.”
She did not respond to the call. Vill also later received a letter signed by the governor, sent along with two photographs of him shaking hands inside the home.
Vill and her attorney will contact the state attorney
After the press conference, Allred and Vill will contact State Attorney General Letitia James to inform her that Vill is willing to cooperate with an investigation. However, Allred said that at this time, she did not intend to communicate with the State Assembly about her own ongoing investigation, or to file a civil lawsuit against the governor.
Allred and Vill also chose to reserve judgment on whether Cuomo should resign as governor, saying the investigations should first run their course.
Vill joins nine other women, most of them current or former Cuomo employees, who have publicly accused the governor of sexual harassment or misconduct since late February 2021. Among them are two women, former employee Lindsey Boylan. and Anna Ruch, who allege that Cuomo kissed them. without her consent, and a third party alleging that Cuomo reached under her blouse to touch her breast.
