Who is Rhyley Mattison ?
An engineer will appear in court today accused of killing a 17-year-old and stabbing four other people while boating on the Apple River in Wisconsin.
Nicolae Miu, 52, was reportedly behaving “strangely” around a group of children before being confronted by Rhyley Mattison, 24, and a group of her friends.
Engineer Miu launched his frenzied knife attack and stabbed Rhyley and three of her friends, leaving them in critical condition.
They approached him after seeing him chatting with a group of teenagers who seemed “awkward” as Miu reportedly asked them for “young girl” numbers.
Attack
He also attacked a 17-year-old from Stillwater, Minnesota, who was pronounced dead after being rushed to the hospital.
The St Croix Sheriff’s Department confirmed that Miu, of Prior Lake, Minnesota, will appear in court today, but he has not been formally charged.
Rhyley, from Minnesota, confirmed that three of her friends, ages 20, 22 and 22, were also taken to hospital, with one of them cut ‘from the navel up’.
“She was out with some friends swimming in the river when a couple of them said we had to stop because there was a group of kids looking uncomfortable.”
‘There was an older man with them, so we stopped our tubes. The guys went to see what was going on and then some of my friends and I went too.
‘They explained that this older man was asking these younger boys if they knew any younger women or if they could get him the numbers of some younger women. It was creepy.
“I don’t really remember if anyone said anything to him, or exactly what he said to himself, but then he punched my friend in the face.
“I don’t know if I said anything afterwards to make him angrier, but then I remember him turning around and he was staring at me and putting his hand on my stomach.
‘It looked like he was going to punch me. I told my friend that I think he punched me and “oh my god that hurt.”
“I looked down and I was bleeding to death because he stabbed me. After that, I only remember that we tried to escape.
“A random group of people tried to push me down the river, because we were close to the bridge and they were helping me keep pressure on my stomach to make sure everyone else was safe.
Death
“Three of my other friends were stabbed, and a teenager, Isaac, was killed. We didn’t know him, we only knew that he died.
I was the first to be stabbed, and my other friend was cut from the navel up. I have a punctured lung.
“The doctors had to open my stomach to fix my diaphragm and they have sewn me up. I am taking a lot of pain medication.
“I think he had the knife between his fingers, I just saw that he was bleeding and I yelled to call 911.
It didn’t look like he was tubing, he was by himself. He was walking like a freak.

Rhyley has set up a GoFundMe page, which has already raised over $1,200, in an attempt to help her recover from her injuries.
Miu will appear in St. Croix County Circuit Court at 1 p.m. m., and is recommended for a first-degree murder charge, which carries a life sentence in Wisconsin prison if convicted.
He is also being recommended for four counts of mutilation and four counts of aggravated assault with the use of a dangerous weapon with intent to cause great bodily harm.
The motive for the attack is currently unclear, and police are trying to speak to anyone who was swimming in the river at the time.
Rhyley and her three friends were rushed to Regions Hospital, while Isaac was taken to Lakeview Hospital in Stillwater, Minnesota, where he was pronounced dead.
Miu was located at the tubers exit point at Apple River, which was located at Village Park, 110 River Street, Somerset, Wisconsin.
Several witnesses had alerted police to the suspect’s location and he was taken into custody, without incident.
Apple River has long been a popular summer recreational destination for residents of the Twin Cities.
They were attacked around 3:45 p.m. m. by a member of what St. Croix County Sheriffs believe was another group of tubes of about six to eight people.
Sheriff Scott Knudson described the scene as “chaotic and terrifying,” adding, “I’m sure anyone who witnessed this will never forget it.” it’s a tragedy
‘We still don’t know who was connected to whom, who knew each other or what precipitated it.
‘It’s been several years since a stabbing happened, I don’t know what to do with it. I just do not know.
