Who was Madison Wright ?

A 36-year-old man has appeared in court accused of murdering a “calm and kind” young mother who disappeared more than a week ago.

Madison Wright, 30, from Basildon in Essex, was last seen alive at 8:30am on Friday July 22.

Essex Police found a body, believed to be Madison’s but not yet formally identified, in a country park on Saturday July 30.

Charged

Her partner, Gary Bennett of Pitsea, was charged with her murder on Sunday 31st July and appeared today at Southend Magistrates Court.

Friends and neighbors paid tribute to the mother of a son, Madison Wright, as Bennett appeared in court charged with her murder.

John Knight, 62, described the 30-year-old as “a kind and calm soul” who would be “sorely missed” by his family.

Mr Knight, who lived on the same block in Basildon, Essex, as Madison for over five years, told MailOnline: ‘Madison was a lovely girl.

She was kind and quiet, but always calm and demure.

“We greeted each other when we saw each other, although she was never very talkative.

“I know that her mother and the rest of her family will be devastated by what happened. We will miss her deeply.”

Friend

A friend, who only identified herself as Nicky, added: ‘Madison was a very nice girl. She was quiet and quite shy, but she had a wonderful spirit and a kind heart.”

Bennett was wearing a gray prison tracksuit and was not asked to plead guilty during the hearing, which lasted less than two minutes.

She only spoke to confirm her name, date of birth and her address.

Bennett was remanded in custody to appear before Basildon Crown Court for a preliminary hearing on 3 August.

Wat Tyler Country Park, where Ms. Wright’s body was found, and a nearby recycling center remain closed as officers continue investigations.

Basildon City Council Councilor David Dadds said: ‘I am saddened and devastated by the news about Madison. I’ve known Madison since she was a little girl.

‘She was a caring, kind and gentle person and a loving mother. Madison leaves a void that can never be filled. My thoughts and prayers are with her family and her friends.’

Mrs. Wright was wearing a pink blouse, black pants and flip flops when she was last seen alive on July 22.

She has a dream catcher tattoo on her left arm and a rose tattoo on her right hand.
