Ravil Maganov Wiki
Ravil Maganov Biography
Who was Ravil Maganov?
Ravil Maganov, 64, was the chairman of Russian oil giant Lukoil, a firm that has been an outspoken critic of Putin’s invasion of Ukraine.
The Russian oil chief died after falling from a sixth-floor window at Moscow’s Central Clinical Hospital around 7:30 a.m. local time, according to Russian reports.
Maganov reportedly died of his injuries at the scene.
Lukoil confirmed the president’s death, but said his death was the result of a “serious illness.”
Causes off Death
He said: “We deeply regret to inform you that Ravil Maganov, Chairman of the Board of Directors of PJSC LUKOIL, has passed away after a serious illness.
Ravil Ulfatovich made an invaluable contribution not only to the development of the company, but to the entire Russian oil and gas industry.”
Statement
In March, Lukoil, Russia’s largest private oil company, criticized Putin’s invasion, expressing “deepest concern about the tragic events in Ukraine” in a statement.
The board’s statement read: “Calling for the early termination of the armed conflict, we express our sincere empathy for all the victims who are affected by this tragedy.
“We strongly support a lasting ceasefire and problem solving through serious negotiations and diplomacy.
The company does everything possible to continue its operations in all the countries and regions where it is present, committed to its main mission of being a reliable supplier of energy to consumers around the world. In its activities, Lukoil aspires to contribute to peace, international relations and humanitarian ties.”
Maganov had been president of Lukoil since 2020 and executive vice president from 2006 to 2020.
He had held senior positions at the company since he joined the board of directors in the early 1990s.
Family
His brother, Nail Maganov, is the director of another oil company, Tatneft, as they both followed in his father’s footsteps and joined the oil industry.
Maganov’s wife, Fania, is the director of the English as a first language school in Almetyevsk, while his son Ravil is a racing driver.
Vladimir Putin had awarded him the Order of Alexander Nevsky in 2019.
It is currently unclear why Maganov was in the hospital.
The Marshal Timoshenko Street hospital in Moscow is the same one where the last Soviet leader, Mikhail Gorbachev, died earlier this week.
It falls under the presidential administration of the Kremlin in Russia.
It is a heavily guarded exclusive hospital reserved for the highest officials in the country.
Maganov has become another of Putin’s wealthy allies who died under mysterious circumstances last year.
On February 25, the body of Alexander Tyulakov, a senior Gazprom financial and security official at the deputy director-general level, was discovered dead by his mistress.
Just three weeks earlier, Leonid Shulman, head of transportation for Gazprom Invest, was found dead.
The 60-year-old man was discovered with multiple stab wounds in a pool of blood on his bathroom floor.
Meanwhile, wealthy Vladislav Avayev, 51, a former Gazprombank deputy chairman and former Kremlin official, was found shot to death in his elite Moscow penthouse.
