Peter McCarthy Biography
Peter McCarthy, 77, was found dead in his South Coogee home on December 20 after sustaining serious head and face injuries.
The neighbor of an elderly man killed in a violent assault and robbery was arrested by homicide detectives in Sydney.
Police suggested at the time that McCarthy may have been the victim of a violent robbery inside the Elphinstone Road unit.
Detectives returned to the same street Monday to arrest a 46-year-old woman.

They took her to the Maroubra police station, where she is expected to be charged with the murder. The precise charges have yet to be clarified, a police spokeswoman said.
The unit in which the 46-year-old woman was detained was also searched by the police.
In December, Detective Superintendent Doherty said post-mortem examination and crime scene suggested McCarthy was the victim of “violent and brutal” assault and robbery.
McCarthy was last seen at the York Club in Sydney’s CBD on Wednesday afternoon before her death, believed to have occurred sometime from noon to around 2.30pm.
His wallet and his phone were also stolen from his home.
