Lee Kendall Biography
Who was Lee Kendall?
Michaela Hall, a 49-year-old mother of two, was murdered by 42-year-old Lee Kendall at her home in a small Cornish town, a jury at Truro Crown Court was told.
After fighting over a dinner that Kendall “didn’t want,” Ms. Hall was stabbed to death in her bedroom on May 31 last year, the jury heard.
Taking the witness stand, Kendall admitted to stabbing her, but denied killing her, claiming it was unintentional.
She told the jury that she “threw” the knife at Ms. Hall at the same time she was moving toward him “and it ended up in her eye.”
After removing the blade, she said she asked if she was okay, before putting the knife in the kitchen sink and going out to continue drinking.
Mrs. Hall’s body was eventually found by her parents, who had worried about her when they hadn’t heard from her.
Witness
On the witness stand, Kendall told the court that they had been arguing over the sweet and sour food she had prepared for them and that she got upset when he told her he didn’t want to eat it, before throwing it away.
When police interviewed him after her death, she told them that Mrs. Hall had a small black-handled knife in her hand that she took from her before she left the room and went into a small bedroom.
Kendall said she didn’t immediately follow her, but she could hear that she was talking to someone on the phone.
He claimed that he felt hurt and angry about the call because it sounded like she was ‘scolding’ me.
He entered the room to find Ms. Hall lying on the bottom bunk and said she forcibly took the phone from him and threw it across the room.
He said: ‘I grabbed her by the throat as she kicked me and I took the phone.’
He said that Michaela managed to grab a cutlery knife that was in the room as it had been used as a screwdriver for some DIY work.
“We were both being horrible to each other,” Kendall said.
‘Saying, “Fuck you. Leave me alone. What’s wrong with you?”
‘She was being the same to me. She was yelling at me. She stuck the knife in my chest once.
Murder
Former prisoner Lee Kendall has denied the murder and is on trial at Truro Crown Court
Living in Gran Canaria, Ms Basnett said that she kept in touch with Ms Hall through social media and calls.
She said that she ignored a call from him on May 31, 2021 at 10:00 p.m., but answered a second call at 10:10 p.m.
“Michaela was whispering,” she told the jury.
‘I asked her why she was whispering. The reason I asked was because she hadn’t been honest with me at the time about Lee coming back to the house, which was why I was mad at her.
When I asked her why she was whispering, she replied, “Lee is in one. I really don’t know what to do.”
‘At that point I asked her if she could leave the house. She said that Lee had locked all the doors and had the keys.
According to Ms. Basnett, Ms. Hall told her that she would need to send pictures of what she had done to her neck over the last few days “in case something happened to her.”
“She asked me to call the police, but she told me: ‘Don’t call them right away because he could be in serious danger if she does,'” added Ms Basnett.
Then I heard Lee enter the room. He started to tell her to stay away from her. He could hear her voice. Michaela was screaming at the time telling Lee to get off her and stay behind her.
