Who is Latysha Simmons?
A woman was charged with stabbing a man to death at her Newark home Saturday after the couple fought.
Latysha Simmons, 29, of Newark has been charged with manslaughter and weapons crimes, Newark police and Essex County attorneys said in a joint statement Monday night.
Simmons allegedly stabbed 29-year-old Darien Wharton at her home at 400 University Avenue and was taken to the university hospital, where he was pronounced dead at 11:29 p.m., the office said.
The relationship between Simmons and Wharton was unclear, and an office spokesperson could not be immediately reached for comment.
Simmons was arrested and detained at the Essex County Correctional Center in Newark, police
