Jalen Harvey is identified as the suspect who allegedly shot and killed New Orleans real estate broker Joseph Vindel, 29, in the back seat of his car after he arranged to sell his motorcycle to Harvey on Facebook Marketplace. . Vindel died Sunday after leaving his home in New Orleans.

Vindel, who according to his family was excited about his new career in real estate, disappeared and was never seen alive again. Harvey allegedly shot and killed Vindel in his car before driving and abandoning the car with the victim’s body inside and fleeing with the motorcycle.
Harvey was arrested Monday morning on charges of first degree murder, armed robbery and obstruction of justice.
The tragedy unfolded after Vindel listed his red Honda dirt bike for $ 2,700 on Facebook Marketplace.

Jefferson Parish Sheriff Joe Lopinto told a news conference Monday that Vindel left around 10 a.m. Sunday to meet Harvey at an apartment complex in the 2100 block of Manhattan Boulevard.

Harvey allegedly shot Vindel multiple times, killing him while he was sitting inside his truck.
The suspect then allegedly drove with his victim’s body in the car to Coliseum Street in the Garden District in New Orleans. There, Harvey abandoned the car leaving his victim’s body in the back seat, authorities said.
The suspect then allegedly drove the motorcycle, which had been in a trailer attached to the vehicle, back to his apartment complex in Harvey. Investigators found text messages organizing the bike sale between Harvey and Vindel, leading them to the Manhattan Boulevard address where the suspect was located.
The motorcycle was found in the outer courtyard of Harvey’s apartment and the gun used in the murder was recovered inside the building, authorities said.

Harvey was arrested Monday morning in connection with Vindel’s murder. Lopinto, the sheriff, said Harvey admitted during questioning that he shot Vindel dead before dumping his body in his car.
The sheriff said investigators were still investigating whether or not Harvey had planned the shooting prior to meeting Vindel.
The sheriff criticized the loss of life from a dirt bike: “I don’t care what it is, I mean a $ 2,800 dirt bike, it’s not something no one should be shot for.”
Harvey had no prior convictions, but had prior arrests, including burglary of an inhabited home and illegally carrying a firearm, the sheriff confirmed.
