“This type of violence has to stop. The same thing happens every weekend. This is a goal, ‘said Miami-Dade Police Director Alfredo “Freddy” Ramírez.
Authorities believe the shooting was directed, but no arrests were immediately announced. After the shooting, the trio of gunmen returned to the car and fled the scene.
Many of the victims were taken to Jackson Memorial Hospital, where a crowd of friends and family had gathered this morning to pray and wait for news.
A mother of one of the victims, Angelica Green, told NBC Miami that her son had called her in the middle of the night to tell her she was on her way to the hospital.
“She called us frantic, telling us that she had been shot, that it hurts, it hurts and that she loves us and wants us to know,” she said.
