A SOLDIER who stole military equipment and sold it on eBay lost his job.
L / Cpl Adam Tonkin, 32, worked in his battalion stores and boasted to his girlfriend that he could “sell a lot of army supplies and make a lot of money.”
The cargo load was £ 26,617 in just three months to October 2018.
It included 60 helmets, boots and sleeping bags.
He used his girlfriend’s eBay account to sell the team and fund his addiction to gambling.
Lt. Col. David Cotton, who is being sued at Wilts Military Court in Bulford, said: “Helmets are state of the art.
“Criminal and terrorist organizations have a particular interest.”
The Tonkin of the 1st Battalion of the Welsh Guards admitted the theft.
He was released from prison and received a two-year community service assignment.
