Yugnir Ângelo Biography
Who is Yugnir Ângelo ?
Marília Mendonça, one of Brazil’s most popular singers and a Latin Grammy winner, died Friday in an airplane crash on her way to a concert. She was 26.
In March 2015, Mendonça began dating businessman Yugnir Ângelo, with whom she became engaged in December 2016. She ended the relationship in August 2017, claiming that she was too young for such an engagement. After dating, in May 2019 she revealed that she had been in a serious relationship for five months with fellow singer-songwriter Murilo Huff. The couple got engaged and moved in together. In June of the same year, she confirmed that she was pregnant, giving birth to her son Léo, born eight weeks premature, on December 16, 2019, in Goiânia, in normal labor.
She launched her singing career in January 2014, through her first self-titled EP. In June 2015, the song “Impasse” was released, the singer’s first single featuring the duo Henrique & Juliano. In March 2016, Mendonça released her first album entitled Marília Mendonça: Ao Vivo, which included the songs “Sentimento Louco” and “Infiel” as singles and the participation of the duo Henrique & Juliano. Infiel became the fifth most performed song on Brazilian radio that year, earning the singer national recognition. In October, she released a live acoustic EP called Agora É Que São Elas with previous hit songs and having as a single only the song “Eu Sei de Cor”.
On November 5, 2021, Mendonça boarded an air taxi with 5 people on board to Caratinga, Minas Gerais, Brazil, where he was expected to perform at a local concert. The plane crashed, killing Mendonça, his uncle (who was also his manager), his producer, and two crew members.
The civil police of the state of Minas Gerais also confirmed Mendonça’s death, without providing details about the cause of the accident, which occurred shortly before arrival. The photos and videos show the plane just below a waterfall; Mendonça had posted a video this afternoon that showed her walking toward the plane, guitar case in hand.
The rising star performed country music, in Brazil called sertanejo. She was known for addressing feminist themes in her songs, such as denouncing men who control their partners and calling for female empowerment.
Social Media and Instagram
On Friday night, the news unleashed a torrent of sadness on social media from all corners of Brazil, including fans, politicians, musicians and footballers. His Instagram account has 38 million followers.
“I refuse to believe, I just refuse,” Brazilian soccer star Neymar, a friend of Mendonça, said on Twitter after the news broke. The Brazilian government also offered his condolences.
The Aeronautical Accident Prevention and Investigation Center is investigating the incident.
Authorities have launched an investigation, said local police chief Ivan Lopes.
“We still cannot say what caused the plane crash, but there is damage that suggests the plane collided with an (electrical) antenna before going down,” Lopes told a news conference.
Local television showed images of firefighters working to remove bodies from the plane, which crashed into a rocky area next to a waterfall.
The accident took place in a rural area near the city of Caratinga, where the artist was scheduled to give a concert later on Friday.
The small plane was manufactured in 1984 in the United States and was in good condition, the National Civil Aviation Agency reported.
The country music singer began composing music at age 12. She debuted in 2014 and released her first EP in 2015. She followed it up with a live album, Marília Mendonça: Ao Vivo, in 2016 that went triple platinum.
The album’s lead single, Infiel, was the fifth most played song on Brazilian radio that year.
