Winston Glynn Biography
Who is Winston Glynn ?
A suspect is under arrest in the deadly shooting of 19-year-old Kristal Bayron Nieves at a Burger King in East Harlem.
The man accused of fatally shooting a 19-year-old Burger King employee earlier this week ranted about slavery reparations, yelling “America is going to burn!” as he was booed by an angry crowd as he was led out of an East Harlem police station on Friday.
Winston Glynn, 30, yelled at the crowd of angry onlookers as officers led him out of the 25th Precinct police station on East 119th Street in handcuffs and shackles.
“Where are our reparations for four hundred years of bloody slavery?” Glynn yelled.
“Fuck everyone!” he yelled at him, according to video taken at the scene by a Post photographer.
He then yelled at the top of his lungs: “America is going to burn!”
A group of bystanders gathered outside the station and hurled obscenities at the suspect as he was led out of the station.
“That’s good for your ass, you motherfucker,” a civilian yelled at Glynn as police dragged him toward the police vehicle parked on the sidewalk.
“Trash!” another spectator yelled at Glynn, using the Spanish word for trash.
“You are trash! You are trash! You are a real piece of trash, you son of a bitch,” a bystander yelled at him.
“You piece of sh*t!” another added before an NYPD officer drove off with Glynn in the back.
Glynn was found in Brooklyn on Thursday night and taken into custody.
Police say he worked at Burger King on East 116th Street in 2020. He didn’t go at the same time as Nieves. He has four prior arrests.
“Everything indicates that he knew this place well, that he planned the event in advance,” Essig said.
Glynn was charged with first-degree murder and robbery charges for allegedly shooting Kristal Bayron-Nieves, who was shot to death at the fast food joint on East 116th Street and Lexington Avenue, police said.
The teenager, who had started the job three weeks earlier, was taken to Metropolitan Hospital, where she was pronounced dead a short time later, police said.
Glynn reportedly only took $100 in the robbery.
Mayor Eric Adams said he met with Nieves’ mother and saw the pain on her face. He thanked the NYPD for his work in catching the suspect.
“I don’t come to arrest press conferences, but this one was very personal. For a 19-year-old girl to be shot by a cold-blooded killer after she complied. We’ve said this over and over again: There are too many guns on our streets,” Adams said.
“It just doesn’t make sense that someone would have taken an innocent person’s life like that. What for?” said Ali Jordan.
