William Wall as last seen leaving his home at Launching Place
William Wall, who has high-level autism, was last seen leaving his home in Launching Place for his regular walk along the Warburton Trail around 6:45 a.m.
He told his mother that he would leave for about 15 minutes, but never returned.
A possible sighting of a person who police consider a reliable witness limited the search to the O’Shannassy aqueduct trail in Warburton, more than 6 miles from his home.
“We were able to spot a trusted witness, we believe, in the Warburton area, which gave us a good place to start,” said Victoria Police Sergeant Major-In-Charge Jordan Kavanagh.
“The witness described a man with problems that matches the description (of the boy).”
“It is believed to have been seen on a trail over Warburton, the aqueduct trail.”
Police said the 14-year-old’s disappearance was unusual and is believed to have been lost.
At night
Victoria police, SES officials, a police helicopter and the boy’s family are involved in the search that was hampered by heavy rain and high winds.
Kavanagh said those involved in the investigation would work overnight if necessary.
William is 177cm tall, slim, with brown hair and lazy right eye.
He was last seen wearing a dark hoodie, dark-colored sweatpants, black sneakers, and a hydration pack on his chest.
