Who was Wafah Chkaifi?
Wafah Chkaifi, 43, was found with stab wounds at around 9am yesterday in Maida Vale, west London. A Renault Clio “hero” driver ran over a 41-year-old man, believed to be Waffa’s attacker, afterwards.
Paying tribute to her niece, Waffa’s aunt said: “She had a heart of gold and she was so beautiful. I am heartbroken, she never hated anyone and she had so many friends from different backgrounds.”
Emotional floral tributes have been left at the scene of the tragedy, reports My London. It happened in a prosperous residential neighborhood, a few steps from the River Thames.
Waffa, a mother of two, is believed to have been stabbed repeatedly.
Jiyad Raad, a witness to the stabbing, said: “‘It was horrible.
“I was repeatedly plunging the knife into her. It was a 4-inch (10-cm) long kitchen knife.”
Waffa was studying at university and also working at a school.
In one of the tributes left with flowers at the site, a supporter said: “We will never forget you. You are with the angels now. You are in our thoughts and prayers.”
The Met Police announced this afternoon that the driver, a 26-year-old man, had been arrested on suspicion of murder.
While announcing the arrest, they praised the heroes who “courageously tried to intervene to stop the attack.”
“A man has been arrested in connection with the case; We are not aware of any link between this man and the two deceased. I can also confirm that we are not currently looking for anyone else in connection with this incident.

Detective Chief Inspector Jim Eastwood, from the Met’s Specialist Crime Command, said: “This was a terrible incident that occurred in broad daylight on a busy London street. It also appears that several members of the public valiantly attempted to intervene to stop the attack.
“A team of detectives is working to establish the circumstances of the incident and I ask the public to refrain from speculating on what may have happened while these initial investigations are taking place.
“Several people have already come forward, but we are still asking anyone to contact us. Any information could be vital in helping us understand why this terrible incident occurred.”
