Fury will return to the boxing ring on December 5 in London for the first time since defeating Deontay Wilder in February in a unification fight for the title.
While Fury’s next opponent has yet to be revealed, former title challenger Carlos Takam has emerged as the most likely candidate for the fight.
Fury is one of boxing’s biggest superstars, but he hasn’t fought since the pandemic began.
His return to the ring is vital to the sport of boxing as the year closes.
Fury Receives High Praise From MMA Champ
In an interview with ESPN’s Brett Okamoto, undefeated MMA champion Khabib Nurmagomedov praised the linear heavyweight champion before his own high-level fight at UFC 254 against a stalwart opponent, Justin Gaethje.
Khabib asks, “Tyson Fury … why did he get big?”
The UFC star continued: “He faces Klitschko, he beat him. … Then he fought Wilder-draw. Then he fought Wilder again … but he came and crushed him … he overpowered him. ”
“That’s why it became great. You have to face the challenge, ”concluded the UFC lightweight champion.
Fury Could Be On Way to Securing Biggest Fight in Boxing
Fury, 32, is the WBC, The Ring, Transnational Boxing Rankings Board and linear heavyweight champion. He was thought to be on his way to a contract-forced rematch with Wilder before that fight happened during the pandemic.
Now, Fury plans to make a title defense later this year to set up a massive fight against unified champion Anthony Joshua.

Joshua is also on track to defend his titles before the end of the year. The 31-year-old is set to battle former title challenge Kubrat Pulev on December 12.
Assuming both Fury and Joshua win their next matches (both will be big favorites in the betting market), Fury vs. Joshua could happen during the early part of next year.
The winner of that fight would crown the first undisputed heavyweight champion since Lennox Lewis accomplished the feat 20 years ago.

Biggest Fight Ever in British Boxing’?
Fury vs. Joshua has been billed by some as the “greatest fight in British boxing history” because it would be the first time that two fighters from England would fight to become the undisputed heavyweight champion of boxing.
In fact, it took Lennox Lewis nearly a century to become Britain’s next heavyweight champion after Bob Fitzsimmons accomplished the feat in 1897.
Lewis picked up his first belt in 1992. By 1999, Lewis had won all three major championship belts offered by the WBA, the WBC and the IBF.
So, two fighters from the cradle of modern boxing fighting for boxing’s most coveted prize would be a massive show like no other in history.
Fury and Joshua have to win their next fights to help make this happen, but the path is now clearer than ever.
