The partnership with McDonald’s comes on the heels of Travis Scott’s Fortnite performance less than six months ago when he showed off a new song during an in-game live show.
According to Restaurant Business, McDonald’s partnership with Travis Scott has angered some of the fast-food giant’s franchisees. According to their report, some franchisees were concerned about partnering with Scott because of her explicit lyrics, “particularly in light of the firing of former CEO Steve Eastbrook over revelations that she had employee relationships.”
Flatley spoke to Complex about the deal and said Scott is the first of the soon-to-be-announced partnerships between McDonald’s and celebrities.
“From his unobtainable line of Nike sneaker, to a cereal collaboration with General Mills that sold out in 30 seconds, to a series of record-breaking viral concerts within Fortnite, Travis Scott is the definition of great in culture.”
Complex noted that the partnership is likely the first of many, citing the fast-food giant’s superbowl announcement. The ad was titled “Famous Orders” and featured many celebrities with their order from the chain.
