In her victim impact statement read in court today, Ms Guest said: ‘This man took the most beautiful soul. He is the most selfish person I know. What he did to my mother is beyond cruel. He has broken this family, but we have the strength to get the justice he deserves.
“Not only did he beat her and abuse her, but he disrespected her in so many ways that ended up taking her life. I think about the last hours or minutes of her and I think about how scared she would have been at that moment.
“He took me and my son to look for her knowing that she was dead. I was very worried. He then took me back to the house and I made my son lunch in the very place where my mother had been so violently murdered.
