Who was Thomas Griggs?
Young father Thomas Griggs suffered multiple injuries and blunt force trauma in the accident involving a Mercedes used by 26-year-old Kem Cetinay, the winner of the 2017 reality show.
The inquest into the 28-year-old’s death was opened by Chief Coroner Graeme Irvine at East London Coroner’s Court on Friday.
Irvine said the court had not been given details of the driver of the other vehicle and that he had been identified as a suspect in the police investigation of the incident.
The accident is said to have taken place at 11:27 a.m. m. on August 4 and Mr. Griggs died at 12:04 p.m. m. the same day, the court heard.
Causes of Death

A post-mortem examination found the cause of death to be multiple injuries and blunt force trauma.
Senior Coroner Graeme Irvine told the court: “This is considering an inquest into the death of Thomas Griggs, a 28-year-old man, who died on August 4, 2022 at a location described as outside Ivy Lodge Farm in Shepherds. Hill in Romford.
‘The recorded time of death offered to the court is four minutes after 12 noon.
“This is a referral made to court by the Metropolitan Police Service and relates to the circumstances of a traffic collision said to have taken place at 11:27am on the same day as Mr Griggs’ death.”
The accident took place outside Ivy Lodge Farm in Shepherds Hill on a “semi-residential road involving one lane traveling in each direction of the carriageway” with a 30mph speed limit, the court heard.
Investigation
Photos from the scene showed Mr. Cetinay’s G-Wagon wrecked behind the police tap and the damaged motorcycle lying on the pavement.
Mr Irvine added: ‘It is said that the motor vehicle, which was a car, was traveling west and the motorcycle was traveling east.
It is said that it was a head-on collision between the two vehicles. The matter is still subject to an investigation by the Metropolitan Police.
“It appears that the police have identified a suspect in connection with this investigation and it seems to me that person should be listed as a person of interest in this investigation.”
Paramedics fought to save Mr. Griggs’s life, but he died shortly after the accident.
Photos from the scene showed Mr. Cetinay’s G-Wagon wrecked behind a police roadblock and the damaged motorcycle lying on the pavement.
MailOnline understands that Mr Cetinay passed a breath test after stopping at the scene and provided officers with a full statement.
Cetinay was uninjured and was assisting police after the crash, his agent said.

The reality star was said to be “traumatised” and “shocked” after the fatal accident, which occurred more than 700 meters from Kem’s restaurant, Array, which opened last July.
A source previously told MailOnline: ‘Kem is devastated by what has happened. He is a sensible driver; no one could have foreseen this tragic accident happening.
“There have been no wrongdoings on Kem’s part, he is not to blame and the police are treating him as a witness.
He is still dealing with the shock along with close friends and his family.
A Met statement after the collision said the driver of the car stopped at the scene and is currently assisting police with their investigation of him. He was not arrested.
The investigation was postponed until January 10, 2023 in the same place.
