Who is Thomas Friedrich Myler?
Thomas Friedrich Myler, 35, is the third person to be charged in the death of 23-year-old Levi Johnson in the parking lot of a Goodlife gym in Mansfield on Monday.
Police got a tip before cornering Myler during a raid on his home on Skinner Avenue in Wellington Point and arresting him and his girlfriend on Friday night.
Brisbane’s regional crime coordinator, Detective Superintendent Andrew Massingham, said police would allege he buried “several” weapons on other property shortly before the arrest.
“We were able to get assistance from PolAir and a short time later a vehicle, a Mazda 323, left this address (Wellington Point),” he said.
“That vehicle has been taken to an address in Chandler, where we believe the wanted person … buried multiple firearms on the property.”
It is understood that Myler got into a fight and became separated from one of the alleged attackers, Kyle Martin, after the stabbing.
Martin remains at large and police believe he is still in Queensland and possibly armed.
“It appears from some words that this man (Myler) spoke tonight, that relationship is somewhat fractured and that’s obviously something we’re going to see in the next couple of days,” Superintendent Massingham said.
Charged
Myler has been charged with murder, unlawful possession of a motor vehicle, trespassing, warrant required to possess explosives, and driving a vehicle without a restraint device.
Their matter was brought up briefly before Brisbane Magistrates’ Court on Saturday and the case was adjourned until October 4.
His girlfriend has not been charged by the police and she is still being questioned.
Two men, Stuart Galloway and Luke Thomas Moore, both 34, have already been charged with murder.
Two cars locked up Mr. Johnson’s vehicle before four men got out and started breaking his windows on Monday.
Johnson ran away, but two men caught up with him nearby and stabbed him multiple times.
“It’s certainly something that was fierce, it happened extremely quickly and they were really passionate about completing their task,” Superintendent Massingham said.
CCTV footage
CCTV footage released by police on Friday shows Martin in the Carindale shopping center before the attack.
“We say that the four individuals met at a nearby location, that they observed the victim, Mr. Johnson, for some time, waited for him to come out of a particular location, and then followed him where they eventually cornered him in the gym parking lot. .in Mansfield or Carindale,’ Superintendent Massingham said.
Police are calling for anyone with dashcam footage of the Creek Road parking lot between 12:30 p.m. m. and 2:10 p.m. m. Monday shows up.
They are also looking for dash cam footage from the Winstanley Street parking garage between 11:05 a.m. and 5 p.m. m. and 1 p.m. m. for them to show up.
