Who is Terrilee Yates?
A heartbroken daughter has condemned the woman who used her dead mother’s bank cards to buy a McDonald’s meal as “not human.”
Terrilee Yates, 32, found the body of her father’s partner, Jane Godfrey, at her home in Swinton, Greater Manchester, in March last year.
She then took the cards from her to withdraw £ 300 in cash, buy herself a McDonald’s meal and bought scratch cards worth £ 14.50.
Jane’s daughter Sadie Bird said: ‘It’s something you don’t even see in horror movies.
Sadie said that shortly after her mother’s death, in March of last year, the country was locked in and she has had no support.
“I couldn’t even have a proper funeral due to Covid, no one was allowed to come.
“Terrilee couldn’t see all of that, she just moved on, she was living her life. She has killed me.”
She said that she was upset when she found out what her mother’s friend had done.
“For me that is not human.
“You can’t find someone dead, take their bank cards and go spend money and the first place you go is McDonalds.”

He said he had the impression that Yates was going to be jailed, but when the sentence was pronounced, “his heart fell to the ground.”
“I don’t feel like I have justice.
“If she’s good and clean, she can get on with her life, she shouldn’t have that opportunity.”
Sadie described her mother Jane as cheerful, arrogant, loud and funny and “had a heart of gold”.
“But that’s what got her in trouble,” she said.
“She would do anything for anyone, even a stranger, and she [Yates] took advantage of her.”

“ I had not been able to locate my mother for a few days and Terrilee texted herself telling me to call her father regarding my mother.
She said that mom had passed away. I thought she was joking, I said ‘don’t be silly’. She said that Terrilee had found her.
“ I took her around and her house seemed to have been searched, her bank statements were everywhere, her purse was empty, her purse was empty, there was no laptop.
‘I mentioned to the police that I couldn’t find any of her bank cards. They ran their checks and discovered that it was Terrilee who had taken the card and gone to the gas station and McDonalds.
Yates received an 18-month community warrant this week after pleading guilty to four counts of misrepresentation fraud.

Sadie said that she was disappointed with the result as she awaited a prison sentence.
She said: ‘My mother didn’t deserve this. I’m not saying my mother was a saint, no one is, but she didn’t deserve that she did that to him.
‘If she wanted money, she could have gotten money, but for her to leave her there? I do not understand.
“ I couldn’t even have a proper funeral due to Covid, no one was allowed to come.
Terrilee couldn’t see all of that, she just moved on, she was living her life. She has killed me. I don’t feel like I have justice.
If she’s good and clean she can get on with her life, she shouldn’t have that chance.
