Who is Tara Davis?

Tara Davis is the wife of Biz Markie, known professionally as Biz Markie, she was an American rapper, singer, DJ, record producer, actor, comedian and writer. He was best known for his 1989 single “Just a Friend,” which became a Top 40 hit in several countries. In 2008, “Just a Friend” was ranked No. 100 on VH1’s list of the 100 Greatest Hip Hop Songs of All Time. Markie has been called the “Clown Prince of Hip Hop”.

Biz Markie was interviewed on the 1986 cult documentary Big Fun in the Big Town. Markie released his debut album, Goin ‘Off, in 1988, which attracted a lot of attention, largely due to the lead single, “Make the Music with Your Mouth, Biz.” The album also featured the hit underground singles “Nobody Beats The Biz,” “Vapors” and “Pickin ‘Boogers.”

On October 10, 1989, Cold Chillin ‘/ Warner Bros. Records released Markie’s second studio album, The Biz Never Sleeps, produced by Markie, his cousin Cool V and Paul C. The single “Just a Friend”, on Alternating between rapping and singing, it became Markie’s most successful single, reaching number 9 on the Billboard charts. The song interpolates the 1968 song “You Got What I Need” by singer-songwriter Freddie Scott, whose basic chord and melody provided the basis for the song’s chorus.

Biz Markie Cause of death

Biz Markie, the New York rapper, beatboxer and producer, has passed away at the age of 57.

Markie’s representative Jenni Izumi said the rapper and DJ died peacefully Friday night with his wife by his side. The cause of death has not been revealed.

“We are grateful for the many calls and prayers of support we have received during this difficult time,” Izumi said in a statement. “Biz created an artistic legacy that will always be celebrated by his industry peers and beloved fans whose lives he was able to touch through music, spanning more than 35 years. He leaves behind a wife, many family members, and close friends who will miss his vibrant personality, constant banter, and frequent jokes. ”

A highly endearing figure who emerged in the nascent hip-hop scene of the mid-1980s, she garnered her biggest success in 1989 with Just a Friend, which reached number 9 on the American charts.

She was diagnosed with diabetes in 2014 and was hospitalized for weeks with the disease during 2020.

Tributes for the rapper arrived on Friday night.

“We lost another Rap legend,” musician Bootsy Collins tweeted, while Red Hot Chili Peppers bassist Flea wrote: “All my love to the one and only bearer of love and joy, the great Biz Markie. I will break his records until the day I die. ”

Immortal Technique, Rosario Dawson, Kerry Washington and other stars have shared their condolences and offered reminders of Markie’s work and his impact on the New York City music scene.

“When I was a teenager we used to sneak out on Monday nights to go to the most popular party in New York. Soul Kitchen taught how to let music live in my body, ”wrote Washington on Twitter. “Whenever we saw Biz in 1 and 2 we were in awe. He was a genius. May he rest in peace and soul. ”

Even New York Major Bill de Blasio chimed in and said, “Biz Markie took a turn on hip hop and brought that New York sense of humor to audiences around the world. Tonight we are mourning a true son of Harlem. “
