Who was Suhith Mahendra?
An Oxford University student has died in a tragic accident after impaling himself on a railing while trying to take a short cut at night.
Suhith Mahendra, 23, was said to be returning from picking up food with a friend in the early hours of May 19, an inquest heard.
The couple walked through an alley near a city-owned park before reportedly trying to “climb or jump” over a metal railing.
But Oxford Brookes marketing student Sunhith impaled himself on the nails and sustained two gashes to his abdomen, an inquest reported.
Despite the efforts of his friend who performed CPR, he was pronounced dead at Oxford’s John Radcliffe Hospital at 5:25 a.m.
Statement
In a statement last night, an Oxford Brookes University spokesperson said: “It is with great sadness that we can confirm that Suhith Mahendra has died following an incident on Cuckoo Lane bordering Clive Booth Student Village on May 19.
Causes of Death
The university confirmed the news that Suhith, pictured here younger, had died in the accident.
‘Our thoughts are with his family and friends at this difficult time.
We are supporting his family and those affected by this incident.

It is understood that Mr. Mahendra was studying for a master’s degree in marketing at the time of his death.
A full investigation into Mahendra’s death will take place on August 25.
