Khadka recorded the video and spoke to KPIX5 about the discussion. He said it started after he stepped aside to ask women to wear masks. She told the outlet, “You are animals to treat other people this way,” she said.
The video shows one of the women saying to Khadka: “Fuck the masks!” and coughs repeatedly in her direction. “I never said anything bad to them, I never swore, they didn’t raise me that way. I don’t hit people, they didn’t raise me that way, so they wouldn’t get out of my car. ”
He said the woman without a mask also took them to a gas station so she could get one from her, but the women kept taunting and insulting her. Khadka explained to KPIX5 that when they got out of her car, the woman dressed in red sprayed pepper on her in the video and had to get out of her because she couldn’t breathe.
One of the women in the video said on her Instagram page: “You don’t intend to leave us in the middle of the hood and on the road, and I just got on the bulls for no reason *** blew us up and cropped the video “. She wrote that she did not allow them to wait and also “kidnapped” them.
Uber said in a statement that they had seen video of the incident and that it was “terrible” and the driver was pulled from the platform.
Khadka said the company gave him $ 120 to clean the car, but that was not enough. San Francisco police asked anyone who knew about the incident to call the whistleblower at 1-415-575-4444 or send a suggestion message to TIP411 to begin texting with SFPD.
The driver said he had stopped to tell the women to wear masks and the driver is heard telling the women to get out of his car. The video begins with a woman telling the driver: “F … the masks!” and then coughing repeatedly.
Khadka says he believes the rebel passengers harassed and mocked him because he is an immigrant from South Asia.
“I never said anything bad to them, I never cursed, they didn’t raise me that way. I don’t hit people, they didn’t raise me that way, so they wouldn’t get out of my car, ”Khadka said.
When he noticed that a woman was not wearing a mask, he says he asked her to put it on. He drove to a nearby gas station so she could buy one from her. But by then, he says the racial slurs and teasing had already started.
“You are animals to treat other human beings like that,” he told KPIX 5.
And that was not the worst. He says that after they finally got out of the car, he says the woman dressed in red sprayed him with pepper spray.
“She sprayed pepper spray inside my car, from the passenger window that was a little open, that was the only open window in my car,” he said.
Khadka says he had to get out of his car because he was having trouble breathing.
He says that he came to the United States eight years ago and works hard to support his family in Nepal. He says that he was attacked by his race.
“If I had a different complexion, I would not have received that treatment from them,” he said. “The moment I opened my mouth to speak, they realized I was between one of them, so it’s easy for them to intimidate me.”
His message to women is: “Since you were born and raised here in the United States, don’t think the other person is less human.”
The driver said Uber gave him $ 120 in total cleanup funds after multiple requests, which is still not enough.
Uber confirmed the incident and in an email to KPIX 5 he said: “The behavior seen in the video is shocking. The passenger no longer has access to Uber. ”
San Francisco police said the driver was able to regain possession of his phone from the woman and the three women fled after the attack.
