Steven Robertson, 40, murdered Emma Robertson Coupland, 39, and Nicole Anderson, 24, last night in Kilmarnock on suspicion of double suicide.

Ms Coupland, an NHS worker, was stabbed to death at 7:45 p.m. M. Across from Crosshouse Hospital in the Scottish town.

Her daughter, Ms. Anderson, was attacked 20 minutes later near a restaurant where she worked and died in hospital.

Robertson crashed a car near an overpass 12 miles away and police said he died at the scene around 8:30 p.m.

Boris Johnson and Nicola Sturgeon paid tribute to mother and daughter, while Anderson’s fiancee said she was “completely shocked.”

Chief Superintendent Faroque Hussain said: “Several locations remain cordoned off while officers continue to investigate.

“We are working to confirm all the circumstances of what happened. If anyone has information that can help us with our inquiries, please contact us.

“Of course people will be shocked by what happened. We are still establishing all the circumstances.

“I want to assure people that there is no major threat to the community. Officers will be on patrol and anyone with concerns can contact these officers. ”

Ms Anderson’s fiancee used social media to pay her touching tribute and said she was still “completely broken.”

She said: “My beautiful little angel, I will love you forever and I hope I can wake up and this is all a dream that I cannot bear. I am completely shattered.

“I am very happy to have all these memories with you. You will never know how much you mean to me, I will love you until the end of time, my love.

“I will miss that beautiful smile from this charming person inside and out. You made me the happiest person on the planet every day until we met again, baby, I love you. ”

When the couple was celebrated, a male member of the family said, “Honestly, I can’t even express how I feel.

“Absolutely devastated to say the least, I had the worst news of my life yesterday, I just can’t understand it.

“I lost my little cousin, my best childhood friend, my little sister, and my savior all rolled into one !!

“She was the most loving and caring person in this world, and Lei never had a smile on her face, let’s say Lei! You’ll be a failed girl, Nicole.

“The best girl who walks on this planet without a doubt, my little girl also left, I will make sure that your memory is never forgotten and I will take care of your little sisters for you and your mother, I will always love and have a good day. ”

A friend wrote: “I am so sorry. It was the most incredible boredom I have ever experienced. I think of your whole heartbroken family. ”

Another said, “When I think of you, my heart breaks for all of you. RIP Nicole, he smiled. ”

One wrote: “Nicole was a great girl and we will sadly miss her. ”

And one added: “I have known Nicole for years, such a beautiful girl. I am so surprised to send all my love and hugs. I think of you and your family in this sad moment. ”

NHS Ayrshire and Arran said last night that ambulances had been diverted to Ayr University Hospital.

A witness at the hospital told the Daily Record: “I was picking up someone when a member of the medical staff was stabbed to death. The whole place is closed.

“The armed police are there and they are taking everyone out of the area.

Another witness told Ayrshire Live: “On the edge of the Moorfield Estate, about half a mile from the hospital, there are between 10 and 15 police cars.

“It appears that an officer is on duty outside the A&E department of the hospital. I have lived here for a while and have never seen anything like it. ”

Family members of those involved have been informed.

A police statement late Thursday said the incidents would not be treated as terrorist.

The hospital was closed after the first incident, but it was lifted around 10:30 pm when the police declared it safe.

Before the Scottish government’s daily coronavirus briefing on Friday noon, Deputy Prime Minister John Swinney spoke of the “terrible” events.

He said: “There is no time to understand such a tragedy, but after the events of last year it is particularly shocking that such an incident took place in an NHS hospital.

Of course, an investigation is underway, but Scottish Police have confirmed that the Crosshouse Hospital location is safe for patients and staff.

Downing Street said Boris Johnson’s thoughts are with the people involved.

A spokesperson for Number 10 said: “The Prime Minister’s thoughts are with everyone involved and he thanks the police and health workers for their response.”

Several streets in downtown Kilmarnock remain closed, including Portland Street, West George Street and Garden Street across Hill Street, as well as the location of the Diversion crash.

A statement from the East Ayrshire Council says: “Following the tragic events in and around Kilmarnock, our thoughts are with all the families and individuals affected by these events.

We know that our communities will be shocked and saddened by these events, but we want to assure you that there is currently no risk to the general public and we support our NHS colleagues Ayrshire and Arran and the Scottish Police where we can.

As this is a permanent police issue, we have to keep several streets closed in the center of Kilmarnock. There are detours here and on the A76 so the investigation can continue. Thanks for your patience and understanding. .

John Burns, Executive Director of NHS Ayrshire and Arran, said: “The horrific events of Thursday 4 February 2021 on the grounds of Crosshouse University Hospital and in the town of Kilmarnock will certainly have had a great impact on everyone involved. .
