He has also publicly documented his illness and treatment on Instagram and Twitter since he was hospitalized last month.
Hillsong founder Brian Houston confirmed the news of his death in a tweet Thursday.
How old was Stephen Harmon ?
He was 34 year old.
Cause of Death
A Hillsong megachurch member who tweeted ‘has 99 problems but a vax is not one’ has died in California after a month-long battle with COVID-19.
Ben just delivered the devastating news to us that our dear friend, Stephen Harmon, passed away from Covid. Heartbreaking, ” Houston said.
Ben is the son of Houston and pastor of the church.
The church does not appear to have taken a position one way or another on the vaccine – a video posted on the church’s YouTube channel shows parishioners talking about the pros and cons of the vaccine. The church in Australia has been outspoken against blocking religious activities.
Before his death, Harmon had joked about COVID-19 with his 7,000 followers on social media.
‘If you have problems with email, I feel bad for you, son. I have 99 problems, but a vax is not one, ” he posted on June 3.
On July 8, Harmon wrote: ‘Biden’s door-to-door vaccine’ inspectors’ should really be called JaCovid Witnesses. #keepmovingdork. ‘
He also posted memes about how people trusted Dr. Anthony Fauci, America’s leading infectious disease physician, over the Bible.
‘When you can’t trust the Bible because it was written by man, but you trust the CDC / Fauci guidelines because it was written by man. It makes total sense, ‘he posted on May 25.
Harmon had previously claimed on social media that he was not an anti-vaccine, but rather an “information professional.”
It’s unclear when Harmon was diagnosed with COVID-19.
He revealed on June 30 that he had been hospitalized with the virus and pneumonia and posted several photos of himself on a respirator.
In the days leading up to his death, Harmon had been posting about how he was ‘on max oxygen’, ‘struggling to function’ and questioning whether he should wear a respirator.
‘Please all of you pray, you really want to intubate me and put me on a fan. even the slightest movement and my heart rate shoots up and my dependence on oxygen increases. and please, I’m not asking anyone’s opinion on intubation, I’ll make my own decision, I’m asking for prayer, ‘he said.
He kept saying, ‘If you don’t have faith that God can heal me with your stupid fan, then keep the hell out of my ICU room, there is no room for fear or lack of faith here!’ #ThingsIAmAboutToScream ‘.
His final tragic tweet, posted on Wednesday, revealed that he had decided to be intubated.
‘I choose to undergo intubation, I have fought this as hard as I can, but unfortunately it has reached a critical decision point and as much as I hate having to do this, I would rather it be the will than the forced emergency procedure. I don’t know when I’ll wake up, please pray. ‘
