At dinner on Friday night, Harry Potter and Chernobyl star Paul Ritter has left his entire £ 80,000 inheritance to his wife after dying of a brain tumor at age 54.
The actor, whose real name was Simon Paul Adams, died at his home in Faversham, Kent, on April 5 surrounded by his wife Polly Radcliffe and his children Frank and Noah.

After his death, Tom Rosenthal, who played his son on Friday Night Dinner, wrote on Twitter: ‘I will be forever grateful to work with someone who was so supportive and taught me so much about professionalism and humility in the acting’.
The show’s writer, Robert Popper, said: ‘Paul was a lovely and wonderful human being. Kind, funny, super caring, and the best actor I’ve ever worked with. ”
Comedian Stephen Mangan said of Ritter: ‘My friend since we were students together. Very talented and it shone in him even as a teenager. ‘
Actor Russell Tovey, who starred alongside Ritter in the National Theater’s Howard Katz, wrote: “ I had the absolute pleasure of a first play at 19 with him, he called me an idiot when I left him hanging on stage once in a lost input signal. … I never forgot and never did it again – RIP mate x. ‘
Actress Brenda Blethyn called him “the best of actors.” Ritter was born in Kent and made his television debut on The Bill in 1992.
He later became an acclaimed stage actor, working with the National Theater on plays such as Coram Boy and The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time.
He was nominated for a Tony Award and an Olivier for his role as Reg in the revival of The Norman Conquests in Old Vic. He also played former Prime Minister John Major on The Audience alongside Dame Helen Mirren as the Queen.
In announcing his death in April, his agent said: ‘It is with great sadness that we can confirm that Paul Ritter passed away. He died peacefully at home with his wife Polly and his children Frank and Noah by his side.
“He was 54 years old and suffered from a brain tumor. Paul was an exceptionally talented actor who played a huge variety of roles on stage and screen with extraordinary skill.
“ He was incredibly smart, kind, and a lot of fun. We will miss him very much. ”
