“I participated in civil disobedience today in front of the Hart Building in Washington DC and was arrested,” she said.

Lewis believed that citizens should get into “good” or “necessary” trouble to evoke transformative change and “redeem the soul of America.” An example of a good problem would be being arrested to get attention and support for your cause.
At least two other House Democrats, Representative Joyce Beatty of Ohio and Representative Hank Johnson of Georgia, were recently arrested during voting rights protests.
The arrests come as Democrats publicly oppose various election-related bills from various states that they say include “thinly veiled attempts to discourage minorities from voting.”
Republicans responded to these claims by saying that the proposals are aimed at “ensuring the integrity of the elections by creating obstacles against voter fraud.”
