A 68-year-old woman has been arrested after allegedly stabbing her 81-year-old husband to death.
According to a press release from the Memphis Police Department, on April 24, at approximately 8:11 a.m. m., officers responded to 832 Wrenwood Ave. At the scene, authorities reportedly found the victim, who had sustained multiple stab wounds.

According to the press release, the victim, whom police did not identify, was taken to Hospital Regional Uno in critical condition. At the hospital, the victim reportedly succumbed to her injuries.
Police told WHBQ-TV that the victim and his wife, Sheila Downey, allegedly argued over the taste of her coffee. The victim reportedly told authorities that Downey went to the laundry room and tried to drink bleach to hurt himself. However, the victim allegedly attempted to stop her, and when she did, Downey allegedly took a knife from the kitchen and stabbed her husband multiple times.
Arrested and Charged
Downey was reportedly not at the scene when officers arrived, but she later returned and was taken into custody. According to WHBQ, Downey told authorities that she went out for a walk after the argument and decided to return.
Downey was arrested and charged with first-degree murder, police say.
Downey was reportedly transported to a hospital to treat the cuts on her hand and was later transported to Jail East. She remains being held without bond, records show.
