Shady Kanj Biography
Who was Shady Kanj ?
One man was killed and another wounded after two shots allegedly related to the Hamzy-Alameddine gang war.
Shady Kanj was killed in a house on Rhodes Ave in Guildford, west of Sydney, on Friday night.
He was an alleged associate of the Hamzy criminal network.
Kanj was killed around 11:15 p.m., just five minutes after another man was reportedly killed in the nearby suburb of Chester Hill.
The unknown man survived the alleged attack and is now in stable condition at Westmead Hospital.
NSW police have yet to confirm whether the two shootings are related to the ongoing dispute between the two suspected criminal groups.
“We can’t even say at this point if the two shootings are related,” an official said.
Underworld sources from the Daily Telegraph claim that Kanz was close to members of the Hamzy group.
“His shooting is supposed to have to do with the war … and it’s going to get worse,” the source told the publication.
New South Wales police issued a statement on the two issues on Saturday morning.
“Around 11:10 p.m. (Friday night), emergency services were called to Boundary Road in Chester Hill after a man was reportedly shot, ”the statement said.
“Upon arrival, officers in charge of the Cumberland Police Department located an injured person. He was treated at the scene by NSW ambulance paramedics before being rushed to Westmead Hospital in stable condition.
“A short time later, an ambulance was called to Rhodes Avenue in Guildford after it was learned that another man had been shot at around 11:15 pm.
“The police have found a man with a gunshot wound. He was treated by paramedics from the NSW ambulance, but died on the spot.
Officers from the Cumberland Police Area Command, assisted by the State Criminal Command Homicide Squad, will investigate the two incidents further.
Last month, two men were arrested for the murder of underworld character Mejid Hamzy, who was killed outside his home in southwest Sydney in 2020.
The two armed men were reportedly lying in front of the 44-year-old man’s house, waiting for him to appear.
Mejid Hamzy was the brother of the leader of the Brothers 4 Life gang, Bassam Hamzy.
A few days before Mejid Hamzy was executed outside his Condell Park home, a friend of the Alameddine crime group was assaulted.
In June, Hamzy’s cousin, Bilal Hamze, was ambushed and executed by gunmen in the heart of Sydney’s financial district, in what police feared would escalate gang violence.
