A Texas man was charged Friday with blowing up an Amazon data center in Virginia to damage the Internet and services he believed were used by federal agencies, according to federal prosecutor Prerak Shah.
Seth Aaron Pendley, 28, of Wichita Falls, is charged with attempting to destroy a building with an explosive, Shah said in a statement.

Pendley is in custody and was not sure if he had an attorney to speak on his behalf, according to a spokesman for the US Department of Justice.
In a lawsuit filed in federal court, FBI Special Agent John Coyle said a confidential source informed the FBI in January of a threat to social media news from a user later identified as Pendley.
A second confidential source told the FBI in late January that Pendley threatened to blow up the Amazon Web Services data centers in Ashburn, Virginia, to “kill about 70% of the Internet.”
The second source on Thursday introduced Pendley to an undercover FBI agent in March and said the agent was a supplier of explosives.
“In recorded conversations, Mr. Pendley allegedly told Undercover (agent) that he intended to attack web servers that he believed were providing services to the FBI, the CIA and other federal agencies.” Shah said.
Pendley met with the undercover officer again Thursday in Fort Worth to collect suspected explosives, according to Shah, and was arrested by FBI agents.
Federal agents also said that a search on Pendley’s Facebook account revealed that he was boasting of being in the United States Capitol on January 6 when Trump supporters raided the government headquarters to overthrow the government. ‘choice.
