Who is Scott Eli Harris ?
Scott Eli Harris, 51, of Aubrey Texas, appeared in District Court in Maryland charged with sending threatening and racist cell phone messages to Wen, 38, in July 2020.
In texts provided by authorities, Harris allegedly scolded Wen for being of Asian descent and tells her that she is not getting vaccinated.
Arrested and Charged
A Texas man was charged in federal court with threatening former Baltimore health commissioner and CNN analyst Dr. Leana Wen for her support of COVID-19 vaccines.
ProtonMail allows users to send encrypted emails from one end to the other. The company is based in Switzerland.
Law enforcement officials obtained the emails from a mail.com account that Connal allegedly used to communicate with the encrypted address.
According to court documents, they also matched their ProtonMail username, Naturtheater Alhena, with an Instagram account created with an IP address linked to a property rented by Connally.

On April 24, Connally reportedly sent seven threatening emails in seven minutes to Dr. Fauci, who is also the director of the US National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases.

The indictment was delivered on Sept. 29 and was unveiled on Tuesday prior to Harris’s arrest in Texas, where he will have his first appearance on Wednesday.
“We take threats and intimidation very seriously, and this charge makes it clear that such conduct will be prosecuted at the federal level,” said US Attorney Erek L. Barron.
“We will continue to work with our law enforcement partners to investigate and prosecute those who make such threats.”
If he is convicted, Harris faces a maximum sentence of five years in federal prison. Actual sentences for federal crimes are typically less than the maximum penalties.

In a similar incident, Maryland federal prosecutors charged a West Virginia man in July with threatening Dr. Anthony Fauci and his family.

An email from December 28 read: ‘I hope someone takes a baseball bat to your dirty lying elf skull and pulls you (sic) out of your misery, disgusting and vile piece of criminal DOG shit.’
Another’s subject dated May 27 reads: ‘Cut off a rat’s scalp and sew it on.’

“You and your entire family will be dragged into the street, beaten to death and burned,” he continued.
Fauci, 80, married bioethicist Christine Grady in 1985, whom he met at the National Institutes of Health.
“ He went to school to get his Ph.D. in philosophy, worked and had three children, ” he told the Financial Times in 2015.
They have three adult daughters: Jennifer, Megan, and Alison.
Connally used a ProtonMail account to send disturbing messages, according to the Justice Department.
Just 30 minutes earlier, he had sent four messages to Dr. Francis Collins, 71, director of the National Institutes of Health.

He reportedly repeatedly cited Fauci’s research on HIV / AIDS in the 1980s, advocating far-right conspiracy theories about the doctor’s work on the virus.

“Our public health officials deserve our thanks and recognition for their tireless work, and we will not hesitate to press charges against those individuals who seek to use fear to silence these public servants,” he added.
