Who is Sarah Ngaba?
A mother who beat her two-month-old daughter leaving her with permanent brain damage has been jailed for 14 years.
Sarah Ngaba, 27, caused ‘catastrophic injuries’ to her son and did not seek medical help for more than two hours after the attack in November 2019.
A court heard how Ngaba repeatedly lied about how her baby had become “flabby and unresponsive” when she took her to the hospital.

Doctors later concluded that the girl suffered injuries consistent with a severe assault and Ngaba later admitted to hitting the girl, but claimed that he did not intend to hurt her.
However, prosecutors argued that the nature and severity of the boy’s injuries indicated that Ngaba intended to cause serious harm.
Jurors heard how the girl suffered “life-threatening and life-limiting injuries” as a result of the attack, which had “permanently destroyed her quality of life.”

Ngaba, of Telford, Shrops., Was jailed in Stafford Crown Court on Monday after being convicted of intentionally causing serious bodily harm.
Warren Stanier of the Crown Prosecution Service later said: ‘By her actions, Sarah Ngaba has permanently destroyed her baby’s quality of life.
“Her baby was severely disabled and she will be completely dependent on others for the rest of her life.”

He said the defendant had “changed her account many times” and tried to blame the father of the baby who was not present at the time of the attack in Brookside, Telford.
West Mercia Police Det Insp Jo Whitehead added: ‘This is a significant custody sentence for such an incredibly harrowing case.
‘Ngaba displayed the completely opposite behavior to what would be expected of a caring mother.
“His horrible actions of hers have resulted in her daughter’s future quality of life being permanently diminished.”
