                                                            Sandra Feuerstein Biography

A Florida woman posing as Harry Potter shot dead a visiting federal judge in New York City and seriously injured a 6-year-old boy after turning her car onto a sidewalk.

Nastasia Snape, 23, is charged with manslaughter of a passenger and other crimes in the Friday incident that killed District Judge Sandra Feuerstein, 75, who had served in the Eastern District of New York since 2003. The boy Anthony Ovchinnikov was hospitalized but his condition could not be determined on Sunday.

According to court documents

Boca Raton police witnesses said Snape was driving erratically on a busy freeway and avoided blocked traffic by driving on the sidewalk and hitting Flint. Snape then returned to the sidewalk and met the boy in a crosswalk.

Police said Snape later fled near Delray Beach, where she crashed. A Delray police officer said Snape appeared to be having seizures, but she was able to get out of the car. She looked into space and said that she was fine.

Police say Snape started yelling at the ambulance and arguing with the doctors shouting that he was Harry Potter. The doctors drugged her. Police say they found the synthetic drug known as “bath salts” in her purse, which can cause psychotic episodes.

On Sunday she remained in jail on a $ 60,000 bond. The Palm Beach County Public Defender’s Office closed Sunday and has a policy of not discussing her cases. There is a character in the Potter novels named Snape.

According to the Eastern District website, Feuerstein was appointed to the Bundesbank by President George W. Bush after 16 years as a judge in New York State. The court’s jurisdiction includes Long Island, including Brooklyn and Queens, and Staten Island.

She had led the case of a former New York cop, Valérie Cincinelli, accused of paying her lover to kill her husband. Her lover surrendered to the authorities and was arrested. According to media reports, Cincinelli pleaded guilty this week. It is not known how Feuerstein’s death will affect the case. Her late mother, Annette Elstein, was also a judge and is believed to have been the first mother-daughter duo to be a judge.

Statement

In a statement, Eastern District Executive Eugene Corcoran said that “Feuerstein’s eccentric style and warm personality have lit up the courtroom. His colleagues and lawyers will miss him. ”

Feuerstein was born in New York in 1946 and worked as a professor before earning a law degree from Benjamin N. Cardozo School of Law in 1979.

“He saw the role of a judge as an interpreter, not as a legislator,” Joshua Glick, who worked for Feuerstein, told Newsday. He “He focused on writing clear and concise opinions that were easy to understand. Sometimes she was tough on fights that he said weren’t completely honest with her, but she was always fair.
