Samuel Yeager Biography
Samuel Yeager was shot and killed in a clash with sheriff’s deputies near Interstate 25 south of Denver, authorities said.
Deputies from the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office responded around 6:15 p.m. Saturday to a report of a man with a gun near an interstate entrance ramp along Happy Valley Road, the sheriff’s office said.

The sheriff’s office responded to reports of a gunman in that area north of Castle Rock around 6:15 p.m. Saturday.
The sheriff’s office did not say what happened after officers arrived, only that there was “a shooting involving an officer” and the man was dead at the scene.
Authorities said Yeager was killed in the shooting, but did not specify who shot him. It is unknown whether Yeager fired at the officers.
No other injuries were reported. No hometown was provided for Yeager.
The shooting occurred about 25 miles south of downtown Denver in an area with numerous rural subdivisions.
Entrances to the interstate along Happy Valley Road were closed while investigators worked on the scene.
The sheriff’s office said Sunday morning that the coroner’s office identified the man as 23-year-old Samuel Yeager.
DCSO said the investigation was ongoing and more information would be released on Monday.
The Douglas County Sheriff’s Office said the officers involved would be placed on administrative leave per office policy.
The I-25 ramp on Happy Canyon Road was closed in both directions for several hours, and the main entrance to the Happy Canyon neighborhood was closed due to the investigation of the shooting. Residents were notified of this through a code red alert.
