Who is Samer Abdalla ?

A 28-year-old man has been stabbed to death in Manhattan’s trendy Greenwich Village, his first murder in years.

Samer Abdalla, of Brooklyn, was stabbed in the stomach after a fight with four men on Sixth Avenue near West 4th Street around 1:30 am.

Horrified witnesses said he collapsed in a car before being rushed to hospital where he died.

Attack

Four suspects fled the scene after the brutal attack and the NYPD said no arrests have been made.

It came just hours after another murder in the city last night when a man was hacked to death outside a gas station in Queens.

Greenwich Village seldom sees violence and is inundated with younger residents who frequent its popular bars and restaurants.

But it comes amid a tsunami of crime sweeping through New York City when Mayor Eric Adams is targeted again to bring him down.

Police were reviewing security footage of local businesses after the Greenwich Village attack.

They launched an urgent murder investigation, but detectives said they had yet to make an arrest.

A male witness named Ryan said: “It’s absolutely terrifying what’s going on, someone was stabbed.”

‘If he doesn’t change now, Mayor Adams has to do something because if he doesn’t, everything will spiral out of control. We live around the corner, not even a block away.

“It seems like a lot of talk and not a lot of action from the mayor and it’s only gotten worse in the last couple of months.”

Another, Niall O’Leary, told Pix 11: “It’s very upsetting to think that someone was stabbed, so I’m very worried.”

“We all look out for each other in the neighborhood, but when something like this happens, you’re very cautious.”

Madelynne Appleton added: “It’s really worrying living on the streets, and crime in New York has increased, and that’s stressful for a student.”

Greenwich Village rarely sees violent crime and hasn’t seen a murder for years.

But other crimes are on the rise, rising 90 percent in a year amid a wave of robberies, NYPD data shows.

Mayor Adams warned yesterday that it could only get worse citywide if the Supreme Court strikes down a state law that requires gun owners to have a license.

Suspect

He said he suspects the court will throw out century-old gun guidance, adding: “After what we saw the Supreme Court do on abortion … we should be very scared.”

He continued: ‘In densely populated communities like New York, this ruling could have a huge impact on us.

‘Now we are looking with our legal experts to see what we can do. But we should all be worried.

The US Supreme Court is expected to rule in the case, brought by a New York armed group that wants the permit law repealed, in the coming weeks.

The law the group seeks to repeal went into effect in 1911 and requires licenses for New Yorkers to own firearms small enough to conceal.
