Russell Marsh Biography
Who is Russell Marsh?
Russell Marsh, 29, denies killing 27-year-old Jade Marsh, also known as Jade Ward, at her home in Shotton, North Wales, last August.
court was told that Ms Marsh had ended their relationship the week before her death on 26 August.
“The defendant discovered that she had entered into a relationship with another man and apparently shared a kiss with him at a party,” said QC Prosecutor Michael Jones.
‘Within a week of this she was dead.’
Witness
Mr. Jones said that Marsh had either witnessed the kiss or learned of the encounter.
“This defendant murdered Jade when he finally realized the truth about the end of her relationship and she was clearly moving on with her life,” Jones said.
“Having armed himself with at least one knife, he repeatedly stabbed her, mutilated her face and body, and then strangled her to death.”
Marsh said her injuries were the result of consensual sadomasochistic sexual activity, instigated at her request.
But Mr Jones said this was “a desperate attempt by an arrogant, manipulative and controlling man” to explain away her “appalling” injuries and her death.
Attack
“In the early hours of August 26, when her children were in bed, he attacked her, stabbing and slashing her with a knife before strangling her,” Jones said.
Her final cause of death was suffocation, she said.
Flowers and tributes were laid in memory of Jade Marsh outside her home on Chevrons Road, Shotton.
Floral tributes, balloons, photographs, written messages, candles and stuffed animals were left in the yards of the house where Jade Marsh, 27, was found dead last August.
“She left her body on the bed covered with a pile of clothes and a blanket and secured the bedroom door with a robe cord,” Mr. Jones said.
“He [then] took his children to his parents’ house at Saughall in Cheshire.”
Marsh was taken by her father to Blacon Police Station, Chester.
A crying Marsh had told officers that her wife would be found in the bedroom on Chevrons Road, saying, “I never meant to hurt her.”
The couple met as teenagers and later married, but Marsh seemed scared of losing his wife. She no longer loved him, and he made her skin crawl, they told the jury.
