Robyn Hickie Biography
Who was Robyn Hickie?
Two $ 1 million bounties are being offered to solve the alleged murders of two teenagers and catch a serial predator that may have been free walking in Australia for more than 40 years.
Robyn Hickie and Amanda Robinson disappeared in 1979 just two weeks apart in the same area of New South Wales and have not been heard from since.
Detectives at Lake Macquarie, between the central coast and Newcastle, reopened the case in April 2019 decades after the case cooled down.
Robyn Hickie was 18 years old when she left her home around 7.15pm on April 7, 1979, and she was last seen standing at a bus stop on Pacific Highway, Belmont North.
How old was Robyn Hickie?
She was 18 year old girl.
Notorious serial killer Ivan Milat was believed to be responsible, as he was in the area at the time, but police have dismissed that theory.
Instead, they believe both girls were killed by another unknown predator active in Lake Macquarie.
A third possible victim came forward last year saying that she escaped the clutches of a murderer just a few miles away when she was 11 years old.
Amanda Robinson was last seen on the night of April 21, 1979, walking down Lake Road in the town of Swansea, New South Wales. +1
Amanda Robinson was last seen on the night of April 21, 1979, walking down Lake Road in the town of Swansea, New South Wales.
“Despite the fact that the disappearances occurred two weeks apart and the police are investigating both matters as a single investigation,” said Police Minister David Elliott.
“It is important that the people of Lake Macquarie, and indeed throughout New South Wales, look into their hearts to see if they have any information that may lead to a conclusion on this matter.”
“This increase in the reward to a million dollars for each one of the investigations, I hope it awakens the conscience of someone who knows something about the disappearance of these two teenagers.”
