Batman debuted a new trailer on the DC FanDome on Saturday, showcasing the best look to date at Robert Pattinson’s version of the Dark Knight and promising an even darker and bolder take on Gotham’s Caped Crusader than any other hit movie.
The new trailer also offers the first real look at Paul Dano’s version of the iconic Batman villain Riddler, who appears to be opting for a much creepier, serial killer-style version of the character (as opposed to the campier, the cheater that most Riddler Adaptations did). “What’s black, blue, and dead all over?” we hear you ask. An opening shot in the trailer shows a man we only see from behind sitting at a restaurant counter drinking a cup of coffee when the police arrive. He raises his hands, they slam him against the counter to handcuff him and as they take him away, we see the unmistakable mark of the Riddler in the foam of the latte he leaves: a question mark.
