A veteran accused of threatening the family of a Democratic congressman and a journalist because he was furious over Donald Trump’s electoral defeat has been arrested.

Robert Lemke, 35, was detained in Bay Point, California, after allegedly sending threatening text messages to the brother and sister-in-law of Rep. Hakeem Jeffries of New York and the family member of an unidentified journalist.

On January 6, the day of the Capitol siege, Lemke sent text messages saying, ‘We are armed and close to your house’ and ‘Biden did not win, he will not be president.

Manhattan US Attorney Audrey Strauss said Lemke was upset by the results of the presidential election and the statements Jeffries and the journalist had made about it.

According to the criminal complaint, Lemke sent text messages to the congressman’s brother on January 6 that included a photo of a house in his neighborhood.
