Who was Rhamero West ?

Police today released horrific footage showing the moment two killers chased the nephew of former Manchester City footballer Shaun Wright-Phillips before stabbing him to death.

Rhamero West was chased by a ‘wolf pack’ until he was stabbed to death at Old Trafford.

Ryan Cashin, 19, and Giovanni Lawrence, 20, were sentenced today to life in prison to serve a minimum of 24 and 21 years respectively.

Charged

Marquis Richards, 17, who may be named for the first time today, was sentenced to the juvenile equivalent of life in prison and jailed for at least 18 years.

In court, Richards made a “fierce gesture to Rhamero’s mother, Kelly Brown”.

She said: ‘Why did these people kill our baby, persecute him and take his life? We ask this question all the time.

She said Richards had made a ‘ruthless’ gesture at her after he was sentenced, and said her son had been ‘smoked up’.

Ryan Cashin, 19, Giovanni Lawrence, 20, and Marquis Richards, 17, laughed today after being convicted of Rhamero’s street murder at Old Trafford last September.
Addressing Richards directly, Ms. Brown said: “All I can say is thank you for showing me the true colors of him.”

Prosecutors have not presented a motive for the brutal murder of Rhamero, the nephew of former England star Wright-Phillips.

The trio were laughing today after they were convicted of Rhamero’s street murder at Old Trafford last September.

CCTV footage released by police shows Richards

CCTV footage released by police shows Richards running out of a car with a long-bladed knife which he then hands to Cashin, who used it to stab the 16-year-old to death.

One of the four wounds severed an artery in the back of his left thigh and resulted in fatal blood loss.

Mother

Today, Rhamero’s mother criticized her son’s killers for ‘giggles and smirks’ during the trial.

All three were convicted last month of the joint venture murder, with Lawrence driving the vehicle in pursuit and Richards handing the murder weapon to Cashin during the pursuit.

Catering student Rhamero had just completed his first day of college when he was attacked.

In an emotional statement, his mother, Kelly Brown, said: “To the court, my son is just a statistic, another case, but to me this is real life and my beautiful respectable, caring, fun-loving son who loved To his family”.

‘Rhamero is our youngest son at 16 and he had his whole life ahead of him with so many goals he wanted to achieve. Goals that were taken from him in such a cruel and horrific way.

‘He was looking forward to his first day at college and even enjoyed his short space there. Rhamero was going to see his friends after college and never made it home.

“Everyone involved in taking my son’s life will serve his sentence and justice will have prevailed.”

Addressing the killers, he said: “From start to finish during this trial, I have seen no remorse from any of the defendants and what they have done to our child.

You’ve been laughing and smiling on the sidelines like it’s all a big game for you. This is real.

“None of you have any respect for me, my family or even this courtroom.”

Addressing Richards, who may be named after reporting restrictions have been lifted, he said: ‘Marquess, thank you for showing me who you are.

“The last day you were found guilty, you made a ruthless gesture and told me that my son had been smoked. So all I can say is thank you for showing your true colors.

Cashin and Lawrence received life sentences, with minimum terms of 24 years and 21 years respectively before they can be considered for parole.

Richards will be held in custody for at least 18 years.

The three of them laughed and waved to the public gallery above as they were ushered off the dock.

Prosecutors were unable to outline a motive for the murder, but said Rhamero was driving a stolen BMW when Richards approached from another stolen vehicle on Princess Parkway late in the afternoon on Sept. 9 last year.

Death

Richards wielded a knife out the driver’s window in stationary traffic before a high-speed chase ensued in which Rhamero collided with another vehicle and struck a tree.

The young man and his passengers fled the car before Cashin cornered Rhamero in the front garden of a house on Norton Street.

Local residents attempted to administer first aid to Rhamero before paramedics arrived and performed open-heart surgery on the street. He later he died in hospital.

Following the sentencing, Chief Inspector Liz Hopkinson of Greater Manchester Police said: “No parent should have to be told that their child has been murdered and the perpetrators, by refusing to admit responsibility, have only increased their suffering by forcing them”. bear the pain of a trial.

“These three caused carnage in South Manchester in the run up to Rhamero’s death and it is a miracle that no members of the public have been injured as a result of their reckless driving and acts of violence.”

Lisa Connor, lead prosecutor for CPS North West, said, “The men who were convicted of his murder pursued him relentlessly and gave him no opportunity to escape or defend himself.”

Addressing her son’s killers, Ms. Brown added: “From start to finish during this trial, they have shown no remorse.

You have been laughing and smiling on the sidelines as if this is all a joke, a big game for you. This is real life, you took my son.

None of you have any respect for my family or even this courtroom.

She said: ‘To the court, my boy is just a statistic, another case, but to me in real life, my beautiful, funny, caring, caring, responsible boy who loved his family. On September 9 our lives were destroyed.’

Cashin, of Manchester; Richards of Hulme; and Lawrence, of Manchester, were found guilty of murder after a trial.
