Who was Pierre Audebert ?

Two graffiti artists who were killed by an oncoming train while marking a Brooklyn subway station have been identified as famous French artists Pierre Audebert and Julien Blanc.

Audebert, 28, and Blanc, 34, were fatally struck by a Manhattan-bound No. 3 train in Brownsville Tuesday night.

The New York Daily News reports their bodies were found around 6:40 a.m. Wednesday by a train operator that stopped at the Sutter Ave.-Rutland Road elevated station.

Two French passports were found at the scene along with several cans of spray paint.

Audebert, whose label name was Full1, and Blanc, whose label name was Jibeone, were reportedly widely known in Toulouse, France.

The couple’s street art has been exhibited in Italy, Spain and Morocco, according to French news websites.

Connexion France reported that the two “wanted to realize their dream of doing graffiti inside a New York subway.”

“I thought of them as brothers,” French-Algerian street artist Ceet Fouad said of Audebert and Blanc.

Ceet Fouad told the outlet that he had traveled to New York City with the duo on a promotional tour and initially believed that they had been arrested when he first lost contact with them.

“When I saw on the news that two people had been hit by a train where they wanted to go, I immediately made the connection,” he added.

Blanc’s Instagram page, which features street art snapshots of him, includes his nametag spray-painted on a subway train and on the roof of a Manhattan skyscraper.

Since then, his family began asking for donations in light of his death, describing him as a father and husband.

“On April 20, 2022 we lost our pillar,” the family wrote.

Julien was a father, a husband, a son, a brother, a friend.
