Paul Mariner was an English football player and coach. A centre forward during his playing days, Mariner began his career with Chorley. He became a professional player in 1973 with Plymouth Argyle, where he scored 61 goals in 155 appearances and is considered to have been one of the club’s best players. Wikipedia

Mariner scored 139 goals in 339 appearances for Ipswich and was a member of their 1978 FA Cup winning team and the 1981 UEFA Cup winning team.

At Ipswich, he was part of the team that won Sir Bobby Robson’s FA Cup in 1978 and lifted the 1981 UEFA Cup. For his country, he made 35 appearances for England, scoring against France in the 1982 World Cup.
