Paul Dimattina Actual Story targeted Daniel Andrews

A pub owner targeted Daniel Andrews in a live television interview after Melbourne’s planned reopening was further delayed.
Paul Dimattina, a former Western Bulldogs AFL player, called the Victorian Premier a “liar” after he delayed the completion of Melbourne’s COVID-19 lockdown.

Dimmattina, the owner of the Lamaro Hotel in South Melbourne, said Andrews is causing Melbourne residents “to suffer” by keeping businesses closed and people at home.
“Enough is enough, I said the guy should go, it’s time for him to raise his hand and get out of our state, stop throwing us on the ground,” Dimattina told Sky News.
Andrews had planned to rule out the four reasons for leaving home and the 25km travel limit from Nov. 1, provided the state had a two-week average of fewer than five cases per day.

On Sunday, the prime minister said that despite reaching that goal, the Victorian capital was unable to open due to a cluster of seven new cases in north Melbourne.

Andrews said the restrictions will be relaxed when the 1,000 tests of people linked to the outbreak in the north are known, which could be as soon as tomorrow.

Dimattina said the “new norm” for Melbourne residents was “disappointment” and “being lied to every day.”

“They told us that we had the roadmap, that we had to achieve the goals that had been achieved, but we are still closed, another lie,” he said.

Dimattina explained that he was “fed up with” being “in chains” and that he “had no faith or trust in the government.”

“We have been in a cautious hiatus and a cautious lockdown for three months, how much more do we have to suffer,” asked Mr. Dimattina.

Andrews described the delay as a “cautious pause” to rule out widespread community broadcasting and is expected to reopen on November 1.

The prime minister acknowledged that the continued lockdown is “frustrating” for Melbourne residents.

“This is not a setback, it is just waiting and getting carried away by the data. We have been careful and cautious, “he told reporters.” This is a pause, nothing more than that. ”

“We were eager to announce today that Greater Melbourne would take important steps, not starting today but in the middle of the week, around retail, hospitality and a wide range of other important steps to take.

“I know people are eager to have a long and detailed list of rule changes. It is not appropriate for us to do that now. ”

There were no new deaths Sunday, keeping the state number at 817 and the national number at 905.

Melbourne residents and the Mitchell Shire have been trapped in their homes since the second lockdown began on July 9.

The state government has charted a new path out of lockdown for the Melbourne metropolitan area and the Victoria region that is based on the elimination of COVID-19 cases in the community that have an unknown source.
