Orsolya Gaals Biography
Who was Orsolya Gaals?
Chilling new Nest camera footage has captured the moment Queens mother’s killer Orsolya Gaal ran down the sidewalk with her body in a duffel bag after stabbing her 60 times last weekend.
Gaal, 51, was stabbed to death early Saturday morning after returning home from a night out with friends. Police believe she was attacked at her home by someone she knew in the basement, based on the fact that there was no sign of a break-in at the $2 million home.
Her husband, Howard Klein, and their oldest son, Jamie, were out of town visiting colleges. The room of Gaal’s son Leo, 13, is on the top floor of the house. He was questioned by the police, but on Saturday he was released without charge.
No suspects have been named. NBC 4 cites unnamed law enforcement sources as saying detectives have identified a person of interest, but the New York Police Department declined Tuesday to confirm those reports, saying no one had yet been identified.
Gaal’s husband, Howard, has not been seen since his death and has yet to issue a public comment.
NBC reported that the ‘person of interest’ is a man who had access to the house and who knew Gaal. It had previously been claimed that he had a date the night before he died, although authorities have not confirmed this.
The footage, taken by a neighbor’s Nest doorbell camera, shows the suspect running down the sidewalk allegedly with Gaal’s body in the bag being dragged behind them.
ABC reported Monday night that detectives are trying to contact three men whose numbers were found on their cellphone.
It was also reported that he sat in a local bar in Forrest Hills for about 40 minutes before returning home on Friday night.
She had gone to see a show at Lincoln Center, according to The New York Post. It’s not clear which bar she was seen inside of it, but she sat alone, as if she was waiting for someone, according to unidentified sources.
Gaal’s dismembered body was found less than half a mile from his family’s home in Forrest Hills, Queens, on Saturday inside a hockey-style bag at 8:11 a.m.
Police followed a blood trail from there to her home, where they believe the 51-year-old woman was brutally murdered in the basement by an as-yet-unidentified killer.
There was no sign of anyone at the property Monday when police removed evidence from the home in boxes and black garbage bags.
Neighbors at the scene paid tribute to Gaal, whom they described as a loving mother and friend. They also shared their horror at the fact that no one has been arrested yet.
‘Apparently a killer is out there and he just killed someone meters from our house. We don’t know who he is or what the motivation is. Nothing seems to make sense,” Nick Bais told DailyMail.com.
Theodora Grafas, who lives on the street and was a friend of Orsolya, said: ‘She was a lovely lady, always very attentive to her family, her children. She is simply an amazing person and all of us who knew her will miss her.
‘She was just wonderful. I met her parents when they were visiting. Her kindness with people, super friendly.
Gaal attended the Faculty of Management and International Business at the Budapest Business School
In 2019, she and Leo traveled to Guatemala with the Reconnect Hungary charity. She proudly shared photos of them building houses and visiting churches.
The children are understood to have attended Townsend Harris High School, a public school four miles from the family home.
‘[My son] Leo is safe. Thank God [my son] is safe. There are concerns about our safety. Our lives are in danger.
Detectives are investigating who the married mother was with the night before she died.
She had told her son that she had been out with friends, going to a show, but unconfirmed sources say she may have been with a man who was not her husband.
The police know that she came home safe and sound the night she died.

Surveillance footage does not reveal the identity of the person who dragged the bag containing her body.
‘Something doesn’t add up. But there are cameras on the way. They will say if he is an adult or a child,” an unnamed law enforcement source told The New York Post.
‘She knew the people she dated. We are talking to them. We also need to find out if she met any mysterious strangers along the way. they added.
Gaal was seen by neighbor John Blankson on Friday night walking through the yard with her dog, according to the New York Daily News.
“The sun was out, Friday was pretty nice,” Blankson said. We were outside. We didn’t actually talk to her, we were just hanging out outside her, but she was outside her with the dog.”
That was the last time Blankson or her family saw Gaal.
He also said that everyone in her house was up particularly late on Friday night.
