Who is Olusogo Ajewole?

Olusogo Ajewole, known as ‘B-Levelz’, hid his face with masks while rapping about making money by having ‘youths’ (young people) sell drugs for him.

The 33-year-old’s videos, which featured white Rolls-Royces and women in bikinis, racked up thousands of views on YouTube.

But Ajewole, who ran a drug line in Basildon, Ess*x, selling crack, cocaine and heroin, saw prosecutors use clips of him as evidence against him in court.

Ajewole, from Purfleet, Ess*x, was jailed for five years and eight months after appearing at Basildon Crown Court on 21 January.

DI Scott Fitzmaurice of Ess*x Police said: “Ajewole glorified the lifestyle of a drug dealer in his music videos, bragging about selling drugs and making money, and using young children to deal drugs.”

“But the truth is there is nothing glamorous about drug dealing and what he describes in those videos is exploitation of children, unnecessary violence and the selfish pursuit of making money off of other people’s misery.”

Investigation

Police raided Ajewole’s recording studio and home address as part of a five-month investigation.

They found it in the living room, as well as digital scales and crack cocaine – which he was preparing for sale – on the sofa where he had been sitting.

The drugs had a street value of around £5,600 and a box of coins contained around £3,000.

His associate Shane Butcher, 20, of Basildon, was convicted after trial of two counts of conspiracy to supply Class A drugs and was sentenced to two years in prison with a two-year suspension.

Arrest and Charged

Scott McCormack, 24, was also arrested in connection with the investigation and admitted to conspiracy to supply crack cocaine and heroin. He has not yet been sentenced.
