Who is Olivia Romano ?

A Olivia Romano woman yelling “De-fund the police” and brandishing a baseball bat in front of the Capitol on Friday was arrested, photos from the fight show.

She was detained by law enforcement as climate protesters stormed the White House on the last day of a week-long program of demonstrations against fossil fuels.

The woman, identified as Olivia Romano, 25, “ seemed agitated ” around 9:30 a.m. when the police approached her.

“The woman, who was uncooperative, started yelling at our officers,” Capitol police told wikipedia.

Romano apparently bit one of the Capitol cops when they tried to take the bat from her.

The Capitol Police statement describes their attacking officers.

When she raised the bat, the officers tried to catch it. At that moment, the woman became combative and bit one of the officers, ” police said.

Arrested and Charged

Charges against the 25-year-old are pending. Police have not yet identified the motive for the attack.

Police told that 78 people were arrested today for “overcrowding, obstruction or discomfort.”

Three of those people are also charged with assaulting a police officer.

Photos taken Friday show Romano sprawled on the ground looking dazed as officers pin her down and forcibly restrain her on the west side of the Capitol.

Another photo shows her being carried away on a stretcher with her arms behind her back and a plastic hood over her head.

She was arrested on the last day of the demonstrations called People Against Fossil Fuels.

Hundreds of protesters took to the streets of DC this week demanding that President Biden halt all future fossil fuel projects and declare a national climate emergency just weeks before the United Nations-scheduled climate summit.

The protests are being led primarily by indigenous leaders from across the country, many of whom have been lobbying for months for Biden to remove the Dakota Access pipeline and the Line 3 pipeline that would cross into the US from Canada.

A Twitter account that appears to belong to a ‘Liv Romano’ has a post about today’s protest.

The Twitter user’s bio appears to show that he is an official of the Maryland Green Party.

‘Today is the day. We turn to #WashingtonDC to protect our Indigenous Water Protectors and allies who were illegally arrested by @POTUS Secret Service @JoeBiden for peacefully protesting. This shit can’t take. We the people are taking back our power, ” @liv_romano wrote on the social media site this morning.

An attached photo shows a woman with Romano-like features making a peace sign with a hand that was also wrapped around the handle of a baseball bat.

The Twitter bio states that she is co-chair of the Maryland Green Party.

Past electoral records show that a ‘Liv Romano’ unsuccessfully ran for the Maryland House of Delegates in 2018.

Other posts on the social media page mock progressive Rep Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez’s label of ‘revolutionary’ while promoting protests in support of Wikileaks founder Julian Assange.

The user also shared numerous articles and statistics on the alarming effects of COVID-19 on children.

Hundreds of people have been arrested during the five-day protest.

Police

Images shared online from today’s rally show police wearing zip ties and on bicycles lining up to confront activists who were blocking the road leading to the United States Capitol.

Protesters can be seen being forced into rice wagons and having verbal confrontations with the police.

When the demonstrations began on Monday, hundreds of people called on Biden to keep his climate promises.

Protesters defaced a statue of Andrew Jackson outside the White House, writing ‘Wait for us’ in bright red letters.

Biden was not in the White House at the time. Instead, he was topping off a family weekend in Delaware by attending his nephew Cuffe Owens’ wedding to Royal Housewives star Meghan King. The first lady, Dr. Jill Biden, also accompanied him to the ostentatious event.
