Who was Octavia Huber Young ?
WELLS, Maine – Nineteen-year-old Andrew Huber Young has been arrested and charged with murder after allegedly killing a 2-year-old girl Saturday and shooting two other people at a home in Wells, Maine.
It happened around 4:20 p.m.
Maine State Police said 2-year-old Octavia Huber Young died of her injuries.
Two men were taken to area hospitals with non-life-threatening injuries and have since been released.
Police said they will not name the two men or their relationships to the suspected shooter.
Octavia’s mother said it was a pleasure to be around the girl. “All I know is that she was full of life and that she always loved to smile and play, that she always wanted to be like her big sister,” said Samantha Higgins.
Young was booked into the York County Jail and is being held without bond. He is expected to face additional charges.
Arrested and Charged
Andrew Huber-Young, 19, was arrested and charged with murder, Maine State Police said, with more charges expected in the triple shooting.
The young woman was rushed to the hospital on Saturday afternoon, where she later succumbed to her injuries, according to authorities.
An autopsy is expected to be performed in the next few days.
An uncle of the young victim, Craig Higgins, said the two injured are Octavia’s father and grandfather. Andrew Huber-Young is the brother of Octavia’s father, Ethan Huber-Young, according to the Portland Press Herald.
Higgins said in a Facebook post that “a part of me died with (Octavia) today.”
