Nowab Miah Biography
Haji Mohammed Hedayatul Islam, known as Nowab Miah, was delivering takeout on Friday night when thieves stole his silver Mercedes.
The 53-year-old man is believed to have been hit while he was trying to prevent the vehicle from being taken away.
Mr. Miah owned the Marple Spice restaurant in Marple, Stockport.
On Marple Spice’s Facebook page, Miah’s son Shaf Nowab posted: ‘I am saddened to announce that my father, my mentor, my role model … has sadly left this world surrounded by close family members.
Many of you know him as the boss of Marple Spice and I would like to thank everyone for your prayers and heartfelt messages from him.

‘My family and I ask that you keep us in your prayers and allow my family to accept this loss.’
Announcing that the restaurant would be closed for the next few days, a subsequent post read: ‘We have been overwhelmed by the LOVE and support shown by the LOCAL community.
“Thank you for keeping us in your thoughts and prayers during this truly difficult time.”
Friends and family have raised more than £ 7,000 in memory of the restaurant owner, with donations intended to support children in Bangladesh.
GoFundMe page organizer Jane Normie said, “As a community, we are very saddened to learn that a precious life has been lost.”
Police received a report of a collision at the intersection of Lyme Grove and Hazel Avenue in Romiley shortly after 9 p.m.
Miah, 53, of Hyde, Greater Manchester, was taken to hospital in critical condition, where he died on Sunday afternoon.
Detectives launched a murder investigation and a 14-year-old boy, who was arrested on suspicion of robbery, remains in custody.
Sheike Mohammad Zakaria posted: ‘My brother-in-law, younger brother Haji Mohammed Hedayatul Islam (Nowab Miah) passed away today.
‘To all our friends and family, please keep him in his prayers, he did not deserve the destination he had reached. He was a kind and caring man.
Hundreds of people also left messages for Miah, who was a member of the executive committee of the Hyde Jamia Mosque and Islamic Center, describing him as a “well-loved man” and “charming, hard-working and kindhearted.

Mr Speed, a builder, said: ‘I saw him running towards the passenger door. He must have had the window open.
He grabbed the car and the car backed up a bit. Then he withdrew and accelerated with him holding him.
They then rushed off, leaving the victim in the middle of the road.
Mr. Speed said that he grabbed some clothes and ran downstairs to help.
Neighbors were on the street helping the man who was seriously injured, with a woman hugging him.
He said: ‘I called the take-out company and got the record from him. They named his son.
