Nathan McHallam Biography
Nathan McHallam, 19, of Bankfoot, Perthshire, was listed on the S*x Offender Registry for three years and banned from “new intimate relationships” without notifying police or social workers.
The young actor, nominated for his role in the short film Crowman in 2016, was placed under supervision for three years and ordered to perform 150 hours of unpaid work in the Perth Sheriff’s Court community today.
Sheriff William Wood told McHallam that it was concerning that he did not acknowledge the abuse suffered by the children in the making of the illegal material with which he was found.

I have no doubt that they will be vile and repulsive to any right-thinking individual. That there are victims involved in the possession of such images is something of which perhaps he was not fully aware.

That could suggest that these images appealed to you to satisfy the needs of your own s*xual concerns. Those who accumulate these images perpetrate an abusive and global trade ”.
McHallam was arrested
McHallam was arrested in front of his parents after hundreds of depraved images were found on the family’s laptop during a raid on his home by detectives.
McHallam, who was nominated for a Scottish Bafta for his lead role in Crowman in 2016, was found guilty by a court jury earlier this year.
It took the jury just 30 minutes to find the teen guilty of possessing child pornography in the home she shared with her parents in October and November 2018.
PC Tracy Marsden, 42, told the jury that she and other members of a team of specialists carried out a raid on McHallam’s home at 7 a.m. on November 5, 2018.
“I was part of the proactive CID group in Dundee,” he said. “We had a court order to search the premises for indecent images of children.
McHallam was initially alleged to have started downloaded images in 2013
Initially, it was alleged that McHallam began downloading images in 2013, when he was only 11 years old, but the Crown modified the position to restrict the period to less than a month during 2018.
His mother told the court that McHallam often disappeared into his room with the laptop and that he sometimes had to take it off late at night.
Sheriff Wood told him: ‘This is a felony. It’s worth saying that the jury not only found him guilty, but it seems to me that it would have been difficult for them to have come to a different conclusion based on the evidence. ‘
Sheriff Wood imposed a conduct requirement that places numerous limitations on McHallam’s use of the Internet and his interaction with others. He also ordered her to attend the Advance, Make Changes course.
McHallam was dubbed a rising star when he earned a Bafta New Talent best actor nomination for his role in the short film Crowman.
